History

Rockin’ B Riding Club got started in 2003 with an amazing, kid-loving horse named Shawnee (Bug) APHA “Skip’s Lollipop”. Neighborhood kids often came by to see and pet the horses, then some one asked if we would do a horse themed birthday party. Soon kids were coming out of the woodwork.
At the barrel races in 2004, youngsters were drawn to Bug’s willing to please attitude. Rose could never turn down a horse-crazy kid, after all..she was once that kid! So they’d have a run, then she would let the kids take turns riding Bug to cool her. Eventually, some started competing on her.

In Loving Memory of Shawnee (Bug) "Skips Lollipop" 1988-2006

Word spread and more kids showed up to learn from, love and ride Bug and the other horses. Jeff suggested Rose needed to go into business, and Rockin’ B became official in 2006, offering the first week-long horse camps. With Bug, Sierra, Poka and Ginger, youth learned to understand, care for and ride horses safely. They learned so much, many are now confident horse owners themselves!

The camps were a huge success!

Shawnee died unexpectedly October 9th, 2006 at age 18. Rockin’ B Riding Club lost our most beloved camp horse and best friend. The little white spotted horse touched many lives with her big heart, courage and athleticism. Many students mourned the loss of her. We will never forget Shawnee, as her legacy lives on in Rockin’ B!

We love and miss you very much BUG!!
